Once upon a time in a cozy little pond, there lived a cheerful frog named Mr. Jeremy Fisher. He was a small frog with bright green skin and big, curious eyes. Mr. Jeremy Fisher lived in a comfortable little house made of water lilies and reeds, right by the edge of the pond. His house was snug and warm, and he loved nothing more than sitting on his doorstep, watching the sun set over the water.
Mr. Jeremy Fisher had a simple life. He enjoyed catching flies with his long, sticky tongue and diving into the cool water whenever he felt hot. But more than anything, he loved planning grand adventures. One sunny morning, as he sat on his doorstep, he had a wonderful idea. “I shall go fishing today,” he thought, “and catch enough minnows for a delicious supper.”
He hopped back into his house and put on his red knitted jersey. It was a bit tight around his tummy, but it kept him warm and made him look quite dapper. Then he took his rod, his line, and a box of flies, and set off on his adventure. As he hopped along the bank of the pond, he felt very proud and excited. “I shall catch a dozen minnows,” he said to himself, “and perhaps even more!”
Mr. Jeremy Fisher found a nice spot by the water’s edge, where the reeds grew tall and the water was clear. He sat down on a lily pad and began to fish. The sun was shining brightly, and the water sparkled like a thousand tiny diamonds. After a while, he felt a tug on his line. “Ah-ha!” he cried, “I’ve caught one!” He pulled up his rod and saw a little minnow wriggling at the end of his line. “Well done, Mr. Fisher!” he said to himself, and carefully placed the minnow in his basket.
He continued fishing, and soon he had caught several more minnows. He was feeling very pleased with himself when suddenly, he heard a loud splash. “What’s that?” he thought, looking around nervously. Then he saw a big shadow moving through the water. It was Mr. Grimes, the grumpy old pike who lived in the deeper parts of the pond. Mr. Grimes had a reputation for being rather unfriendly, and Mr. Jeremy Fisher didn’t want to meet him at all.
With a leap and a bound, Mr. Jeremy Fisher hopped out of the water and onto the bank. He looked back and saw Mr. Grimes swimming towards him, his sharp teeth glinting in the sunlight. “Oh dear,” thought Mr. Jeremy Fisher, “I must get away quickly!” He dropped his fishing rod and basket and began to hop as fast as he could towards his house.
As he hopped along, he heard a rustling in the bushes. He looked over and saw a family of rabbits watching him. “Help!” he, cried “Mr. Grimes is chasing me!” The rabbits looked at each other and then at Mr. Jeremy Fisher. “We’ll help you,” said the biggest rabbit, “but you must promise to share your minnows with us.” Mr. Jeremy Fisher agreed quickly, and the rabbits formed a circle around him, making him look much bigger than he was.
When Mr. Grimes saw the rabbits, he thought twice about chasing Mr. Jeremy Fisher. He grumbled and turned back to the water, leaving Mr. Jeremy Fisher and his new friends alone. “Thank you so much,” said Mr. Jeremy Fisher, “you’ve saved me from a very scary situation.” The rabbits smiled and said, “We’re glad to help. Now, let’s share those minnows and have a feast!”
Mr. Jeremy Fisher and the rabbits sat down together on the bank of the pond and enjoyed the minnows he had caught. They laughed and talked, and Mr. Jeremy Fisher realized that sometimes, the best adventures are the ones you share with friends.
From that day on, Mr. Jeremy Fisher was never afraid to go fishing again. He always made sure to bring extra flies and minnows to share with his friends, and they often joined him on his adventures. And every night, as he sat on his doorstep watching the sun set, he felt grateful for the wonderful friends he had made and the exciting adventures they shared.
And so, Mr. Jeremy Fisher lived happily ever after, knowing that even in the darkest moments, there was always a way to find joy and friendship. And that, dear children, is the Bedtime Story of Mr. Jeremy Fisher.
