Listen to this article

Once upon a time, in a small seaside town in England, there lived a curious boy named Robinson Crusoe. He loved listening to sailors’ tales of faraway lands and dreamed of sailing across the ocean. One day, when he turned eighteen, he decided to join a ship’s crew. His parents begged him to stay, but Robinson’s heart was set on adventure. Little did he know, his journey would become one of the most incredible survival stories ever told.

A Stormy Night at Sea
Robinson’s first voyage began smoothly, but one evening, dark clouds gathered. The wind howled, and waves as tall as mountains crashed against the ship. “Hold on tight!” shouted the captain, but the storm was too fierce. The ship shattered into pieces, and Robinson clung to a wooden plank until he washed ashore on a lonely island.

When he woke, the sun was rising, and the beach stretched endlessly. Robinson felt scared but whispered, “I must be brave.” He searched the wreckage for supplies and found a knife, a rope, and a soggy bag of seeds. “This will help,” he said, determined to survive.

Building a Home
Robinson explored the island and discovered a cave near a freshwater spring. “Perfect!” he said. Using branches and vines, he built a fence around the cave to keep wild animals away. He wove palm leaves into a roof and made a bed from soft moss. Every morning, he woke to the sound of chirping birds and worked hard to improve his shelter.

One day, he noticed tiny green shoots in the soil—his seeds had sprouted! He watered them daily, and soon, wheat and barley grew. “Now I can bake bread!” he cheered. He even found wild goats and learned to milk them. “I’ll name you Daisy,” he told his favorite goat, who became his cheerful companion.

A Mysterious Footprint
Years passed, and Robinson grew skilled at fishing, cooking, and crafting tools. But loneliness crept in. “I wish I had someone to talk to,” he sighed. Then, one morning, he spotted a footprint in the sand. His heart raced. “Am I not alone?”

Days later, he heard shouts near the shore. Hidden behind rocks, he saw a group of strangers paddling a canoe. They captured two prisoners, and Robinson’s blood turned cold. When the strangers left one prisoner behind, Robinson acted quickly. He scared them off with his rifle (a tool he’d salvaged from the ship) and rescued the frightened man.

“Thank you,” the man said, trembling. Robinson smiled. “What’s your name?”
“Friday,” the man replied, for that was the day they’d met.

Friendship and Freedom
Friday taught Robinson how to fish with a net and weave sturdy baskets. In return, Robinson shared stories of England and taught Friday words like “friend” and “hope.” They laughed often, and the island felt brighter with their friendship.

One evening, as they sat by a fire, Friday pointed at the horizon. “Look—a ship!” Robinson’s eyes widened. They lit a signal fire, and the ship changed course. When sailors rowed ashore, Robinson’s eyes filled with tears. “We’re saved!”

The captain explained his crew had rebelled but were now defeated. “We’ll take you home,” he promised. Robinson hugged Friday. “Come with me,” he said. Friday grinned. “I will follow my friend.”

A New Beginning
After 28 years, Robinson returned to England. His family rejoiced, and he became a storyteller, sharing tales of courage and kindness. Friday stayed by his side, learning and laughing every day.

And so, whenever children asked about his adventure, Robinson would say, “Even in the darkest times, never lose hope. With hard work and a friend, you can conquer any storm.”

The End

Sweet dreams, little adventurers! May your dreams be as brave and wonderful as Robinson Crusoe’s journey.
