Once upon a time, in the heart of a vast and lush jungle, there lived an enormous crocodile. This crocodile was not like the others. He was much bigger, with scales that glistened like dark emeralds under the sun. His eyes were small and beady, and his smile was the kind that hid many secrets. The enormous crocodile had a reputation for being cunning and mischievous. He loved to play tricks on the other animals, and he was always on the lookout for his next adventure.
One bright morning, as the sun was just beginning to peek over the treetops, the enormous crocodile awoke with a stretch. He felt a rumble in his stomach and knew it was time for breakfast. But he didn’t want just any breakfast. He wanted something special, something that would make his day truly exciting. He decided that he would go out and find the tastiest treat in the jungle.
He slithered out of the water and began to make his way through the jungle. As he moved, he kept his eyes and ears open, listening for any signs of movement. He knew that the jungle was full of delicious snacks, but he also knew that he had to be careful. The other animals were not always as friendly as they seemed.
As he was walking, he came across a group of monkeys playing in the trees. They were swinging from branch to branch, laughing and chattering away. The enormous crocodile had an idea. He decided that he would try to trick the monkeys into coming closer to him. He put on his best smile and called up to them, “Hello, little monkeys! I have a surprise for you. I’ve found a tree full of the most delicious bananas you’ve ever tasted. Come down and I’ll show you where it is.”
The monkeys, being curious and always hungry for a good treat, looked at each other and then back at the enormous crocodile. They were a bit wary, but the thought of bananas was too tempting to resist. One by one, they began to climb down from the trees and approached the enormous crocodile.
As they got closer, the enormous crocodile’s smile grew even wider. He was sure that he had them right where he wanted them. But just as he was about to make his move, the smallest monkey, who had been watching carefully, noticed something strange. The enormous crocodile’s eyes were twinkling with mischief, and his tail was twitching ever so slightly.
The little monkey quickly whispered to the others, “Be careful! I think he’s trying to trick us.” The other monkeys, realizing what was happening, quickly scattered back up into the trees. The enormous crocodile was left standing there, his plan foiled. He let out a big sigh and decided that he would have to try something else.
He continued on his way, and soon he came across a family of warthogs. They were busy digging in the ground, looking for roots and tubers to eat. The enormous crocodile thought to himself, “These warthogs look like they could be an easy target.” He slithered closer and called out, “Hello there, warthogs! I’ve been watching you dig, and I must say, you seem to be working very hard. Why don’t you take a break and let me show you a shortcut to some of the tastiest roots in the jungle?”
The warthogs, who were tired and hungry, looked at each other and then at the enormous crocodile. They were suspicious, but they were also very hungry. The mother warthog decided to be brave and said, “Thank you for your offer, but we think we’ll manage on our own. We don’t want to get into any trouble.”
The enormous crocodile was surprised by their response. He had expected them to be more gullible. He realized that the animals of the jungle were smarter than he had given them credit for. He decided that he would have to try a different approach.
As he continued his journey, he came across a beautiful clearing in the jungle. In the center of the clearing was a sparkling pond, and sitting by the pond was a family of ducks. The ducks were swimming and splashing in the water, enjoying the warm sun. The enormous crocodile thought to himself, “These ducks look like they could be an easy meal.”
He slithered closer and called out, “Hello, ducks! I’ve been watching you swim, and I must say, you look very happy. Why don’t you come over here and I’ll show you a new game we can play together?”
The ducks, who were always looking for a good time, looked at each other and then at the enormous crocodile. They were curious, but they were also cautious. The mother duck decided to be brave and said, “Thank you for your offer, but we think we’ll stay here and enjoy the water. We don’t want to get into any trouble.”

As the sun began to set and the shadows grew longer, the enormous crocodile realized that he had spent the whole day trying to trick the animals of the jungle, but he had failed every time. He began to feel a little sad and lonely. He realized that maybe he didn’t need to trick the animals to have a good time. Maybe he could make friends with them instead.
He decided to try one last time. He slithered over to a group of birds who were perched on a branch, singing their evening songs. He called up to them, “Hello, birds! I’ve been listening to your beautiful songs all day, and I must say, they’ve made me very happy. I would love to join you and sing along. May I?”
The birds, who were always happy to share their music, looked at each other and then at the enormous crocodile. They could see the sincerity in his eyes and decided to give him a chance. They welcomed him to their branch, and together they sang the most beautiful song the jungle had ever heard.
As the night fell and the stars began to twinkle in the sky, the enormous crocodile realized that he had finally found something truly special. He had made friends with the animals of the jungle, and he was happier than he had ever been. From that day on, he no longer tried to trick the animals. Instead, he spent his days playing and singing with his new friends, and he became a beloved member of the jungle community.
And so, the enormous crocodile learned that sometimes, the best treats in life are not the ones you catch, but the ones you share with others. And every night, as the animals of the jungle settled down to sleep, they would remember the day they had learned to trust the enormous crocodile, and they would smile, knowing that they had made a friend for life.
And that, dear ones, is the Bedtime Story of the enormous crocodile.
